These Crochet Rainbow Nesting Baskets are so vibrant and colorful, they’ll brighten up any room! They’re great for decorating your home and so handy for storage of your bits and pieces.
You could even use them to store all your craft supplies and yarns.
The free pattern is in US terms and is very easy to follow. The stitches used include single crochet (sc); half double crochet (hdc); inc (increase); slip stitch (sl st) and chain (ch). Start by making the largest basket. You need to make a Magic Circle using the Violet Yarn. We have included a video below.
A magic circle (loop or ring) is a crochet technique that you can use in many patterns and it will give your crochet projects a very professional finished look. We’ve added a video on how to make a Magic Circle below.
What You Need For Your Project
- Yarn in the 7 rainbow colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, violet)
- A crochet hook – the pattern uses a 4.0mm size G hook
- A darning needle for sewing in the ends
- A pair of scissors
- A stitch marker

The bottom part of the basket is worked as one big spiral. So you won’t need to join the rounds but will keep working on the previous stitches, creating a spiral. This is where you’ll need your stitch marker. For each of the other 6 baskets, you need to make the base and the sides one round smaller.
