Mucus and Phlegm are effects of congestion in our body. The over production of Mucus however can wreak havoc on our bodies and it has been linked to all sorts of diseases including cancer.
Mucus can make breathing difficult. In turn, the congestion can make our systems oxygen deprived. When our bodies are starved of Oxygen, it is the perfect breeding ground for disease.

If you are suffering from green mucus, this may be a sign of a bacterial infection. Red or Pink is more serious and could be a sign of Pneumonia, Tuberculosis or potentially Lung Cancer.
Bronchitis and Pneumonia can also be rusty brown mucus. Black mucus can be as a result of smoking or a fungal infection.
