How much do you know about the Paleo Diet Plan? We have just made the change and we’re loving it so much that we thought we would share our findings and experience with you.

The Paleo Diet is also known as The Caveman Diet. It is from the Paleolithic Age and is based on the Hunter Gatherer style of eating. Fresh fruit and veg, shell fish, meat and good oils are its mantra.

It’s about eating the foods that our ancestors ate. These foods are said to combat today’s diseases and have an enormous amount of health benefits.

It’s not about losing weight, it’s a lifestyle change. It’s not about counting calories, rather eating from certain groups of foods and avoiding others. Essentially, if it grows on trees, or in the ground, you’ll find it in the Paleo Diet Plan. The food is easy to prepare and also very inexpensive. When you go Paleo, you will save money.

The Paleo Diet Plan is ideal for those who wish to avoid Gluten too. It can reduce cholesterol, high blood pressure and many diseases. You won’t have the mid afternoon carb crashes either. We have also noticed that it really removes the body bloat and water retention too. Your body shape will change and you will shed fat.

Processed Foods as shown in the infographic above from Paleo Magazine are on the rubbish pile as there are no nutrients and it actually does your body more harm than good.

Foods To Eat On Paleo Diet Plan

Pretty much all vegetables are on the Paleo Diet. Corn, wheat and rice are not vegetables and should not be eaten. The Paleo Diet is big on Protein which is ideal for your weight loss efforts.

Fatty Meats are also permissible. Bacon features prominently on the Paleo Diet as do Organ Meats which are highly nutritious. Eggs, most spices, and herbs plus tea and coffee are also allowed. This healthy fats chart from Nutrition Advance is also handy and proves that not all fats are evil!

Speaking of coffee, we found using Coconut or Almond Milk in our Coffee Pod Machine works a treat. The result is a strong, rich flavor, much like a short black.

Foods To Avoid On Paleo Diet

Oz Weight Loss has put together this list that shows us the foods to avoid. Sugar, starchy foods, grains and cereals, soy and tofu, vegetable oils are just some of the things to exclude from your diet. Dairy, Legumes, Alcohol particularly beer, wine and spirits and processed foods round the list out. You can get creative with your swaps too. We made a Shepherds Pie that had cauliflower mash in place of potato. It was incredibly creamy and flavorsome.
