If you love fairies as much as we do, then this DIY Fairy Doll Tutorial is for you! Not only is it simple, but it’s adorable too.

There’s no sewing required either. All you need is your glue gun and a few special wrapping techniques.

DIY Fairy Doll Tutorial Supplies

Tina from Miss Daisy Patterns is sharing this pattern with us today, and she is a great instructor. We recently shared her Cloth Dolls and they were very popular.

Here are the Materials you will need for this project.

  • 1 Wooden ball 1 1/5″ / 4 cm with a center hole
  • 2 pipe cleaners 11 1/5 ” / 29 cm
  • A small ball of yarn (I used Aran weight 100% wool)
  • 3/4″ / 2 cm width lace
  • 3 skeleton leaves
  • 3 pieces of cotton fabric cut the same shape as the leaves
  • Set of feather wings
  • 4 small ribbon flowers
  • White & black gouache paint

DIY Fairy Doll Tutorial Tools

You’ll need a few small, simple tools as well:

  • Glue & glue gun
  • Paintbrushes
  • Scissors
  • Piece of card 5″ x 4″ / 12.5 x 10 cm

DIY Fairy Doll Tutorial Body Instructions

You’ll start out by making your fairy dolls body and it’s simpler than you think! The hair will be made first, then tied onto a pipe cleaner.

You’ll then add a bead for the head and begin wrapping it up.

DIY Fairy Doll Wings & Dress Instructions

Next, wrap some lovely lace around your doll for a shirt. You can also use some pretty craft petals for the skirt and add some wings.

Then, all that’s left to do is paint on the face. You can add some pretty decorative touches such as the roses above.

Here’s the finished result. You will have a collection of gorgeous fairy dolls that will bring a smile to your face every time you see them.

You can make them in so many ways too. They make lovely gifts for family and friends and they look beautiful in a child’s room too.

Traditionally, these Waldorf-style dolls have either no face or a very simple one. You can add in some extra features, or go all out with painting. It’s up to you!
