We are always looking for recipes that are old fashioned favorites. We recently shared how to make Creme Brulee and today we are sharing this popular Creme Caramel Recipe.

This simple and delicious dessert is easy to make and tastes great! You will only need a few simple ingredients and you are going to love it!

Creme Caramel Ingredients

Here’s what you will need:

Caramel Sauce:

  • 3/4 Cup of White Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup of Water

Custard Ingredients:

  • 4 Eggs
  • 1/4 Cup of White Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup of Water
  • 375ml (12.6 oz) Can of Evaporated Milk

Kitchen Note:

If you don’t have evaporated milk on hand, don’t stress! It is perfectly fine to substitute with whipping cream.

How To Make Creme Caramel Recipe

You will need to allow 20 minutes of preparation and 25 minutes for cooking and chilling time. This recipe yields 5 servings.

Step 1

Add 3/4 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup water to a saucepan, stir until dissolved.

Step 2

Once the mixture comes to boil, stop stirring and allow to boil until it turns into a deep golden brown caramel syrup.

Step 3

Remove saucepan from heat and divide between 5 oven ramekins (1 cup capacity). Be careful as the mixture will be extremely hot.

Step 4

To a bowl add 4 eggs, 1/4 cup of white sugar, 1/2 cup water, and a tin of evaporated milk or equivalent in whipping cream.

Step 5

Beat ingredients together until smooth and divide between the ramekins.

Step 6

Pop ramekins into a deep baking tray and pour boiling water into the tray until the water reaches 1/2 way up ramekins

Step 7

Pop into a preheated 180c (356F) oven for 25-30 minutes or until set.

Step 8

Remove from oven and cool for 15 minutes. Pop into the fridge for 2 hours to chill.

Step 9

Run a knife around the edge of custard to free sides.

Step 10

Place saucer over the top and flip upside down carefully. The caramel will drizzle over the custard. Serve with fresh fruit and cream if desired.
