Tip #1 Clean Rust Spots With Aluminum Foil
Use Aluminum Foil to clean rust off metal tools or other metal objects (it’s perfect for rust removal on the legs of your outdoor furniture for example). Just take a sheet off the roll, scrunch it up and rub the rust spots and stains with the ball.
This is ideal if you’ve got some rust spots on your metal tools. As you can see from the video above it takes just minutes to clean them up and will give them a whole new lease of life.
Tip #2 Replace A Missing Battery
You can even replace a missing battery with Aluminum Foil – this is really handy if you’ve got one battery still working.
Replace the tired one with a piece of foil folded up firmly to the same size of the battery. This takes just a few minutes and will save you dollars as well as the inconvenience of having to pop to the store to get a replacement battery.
Tip #3 Make A Frying Pan Non-Stick
Turn an ordinary frying pan into a nonstick pan quickly and easily – no more burnt on hard to clean off bits, particularly when you’re frying eggs.
Press a piece of foil firmly into the pan and fold edges over carefully to fit – then just crack your eggs on top of the foil and lift out with the foil to slide onto your plate.
Tip #4 Stop Scratches On Wooden Floors
- Avoid scratches on your wooden floor when you’re moving furniture by simply placing a piece of foil under the feet of the furniture. It will slide smoothly and no scratches!
Tip # 5 Use Foil When Painting
Next time you are painting, cover your doorknobs and handles with Aluminum. Simply wrap around and the aluminum will mold to the shape. This is a truly Brilliant idea from Real Simple.

Another easy way to use Aluminum Foil to remove rust is to take a piece and dip it into some White Vinegar, then you can use the foil as a brush and rub off the rust easily. It’s also a lot less abrasive than Steel Wool so won’t scratch as it cleans.

The photos above are of some swivel indoor chairs that we moved outdoors. They got caught in the rain and the result is rusted bases. When we were looking for some solutions, we came across the aluminum trick.
All you need to do is dip your aluminum in soapy dishwater and scrunch your aluminum in a ball and start rubbing vigorously. We couldn’t believe the results.
As you can see above, they were restored to brand new! We also tried it with Coke and whilst it worked, we didn’t find it as good. Be sure that if you are doing this on cement, to pop a towel underneath the item or you will end up with rust stains. Better still clean them on the grass or somewhere similar. It worked a treat and we were thrilled with the results!

Love this idea for a Smoke Ball when grilling. Just place wood chips on your aluminum foil and wrap into a ball. Next, poke holes with a knife to allow smoke to ventilate. Finally, place ball directly on the fire when grilling.
