Well, today, we are going to share another exciting idea with you. Imagine being able to grow Potatoes in a Barrel.

This is an easy project and you are going to love the results. There are so many benefits to growing your own. There is no use of chemicals or pesticides, and you can see them grow before your eyes!

Of course, this technique will work for any number of Barrels. You could use a whiskey barrel or even a trash can.
We have even seen Potatoes grown in Kiddy Pools like this fabulous idea above. This is so easy to recreate at home and you’ll love the results.

Potato Grow Bag
Another popular way that is also inexpensive is to use a Potato Grow Bag. They are readily available online.
They are easy, durable, reusable, eco-friendly and they get excellent reviews from users too.
Another easy way is to grow your Potatoes in a bucket. This Bucket has 2 individual sections and is another version available for sale online. You can find them on Amazon.
If your barrel does not have drainage, drill 1/4 to 1/2 inch holes that are a minimum of 6 inches apart. It is also a good idea to pop your barrel in a sunny location.
Another good tip is to have it elevated on bricks or something similar. This will allow it to drain correctly, and for the air to circulate properly.

For this project, you will need some Seed Potatoes and you should purchase them a week prior to planting. Keep them in the refrigerator and give them time to sprout.
You will be completing a layer of potatoes, covering with dirt and then planting your next layer of Potatoes. There is an excellent photo tutorial that we found on Instructables that will teach you all you need to know.
