Just like plants, we need light not just to survive, but to thrive! Again, a lot of people that are not feeling up to facing the day, close their blinds or curtains. This is shutting out the world.
Lack of light makes us actually feel worse! The most energetic people who have a positive outlook on life have sparkling windows! It’s important to remember that as your outlook deteriorates, so does your windows. You don’t even notice the dirt.
Remember, if the small things are not being attended, chances are other things are slipping too! Clean windows have a much bigger effect on you than you may realize.
It will give your home an instant lift, attract more light and will give the appearance that your home has been freshly painted!

On the flip side, there is nothing worse than smeared windows. Before you embark on cleaning your windows you want to learn a few tricks of the trade. Do not spray Windex onto dirty windows.
You will end up with mud and it will look like someone smeared your windows with vaseline! Speaking of Windex, you can save a bundle by making your own. We’ve found you the Copycat Recipe that you can make at home quickly and easily!
Homemade Windex Copycat Recipe
- 1 Empty Windex Spray Bottle
- 1/8 Cup (1oz) White Ammonia
- 1/4 Cup (4oz) Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol
- 1 Drop Laundry Detergent
- Water – To Fill The Bottle
Pro Tip -: Giving your windows a soap wash first and removing the cobwebs, rain build up and general grime is a must. The tools that you are going to need are a decent squeegee, a squeegee wet cover (or a cleaning cloth attached to the squeegee with rubber bands) and dry cleaning cloths. (We have included a Squeegee free technique further down our page) – Be sure to have newspaper on hand too. We have found through years of window cleaning, Newspaper is perfect for cleaning windows. Try it on your car windows too! Unlike paper towels and cloths, it does not leave lint.
A good homemade recipe to wash your windows with is 2 cups water, 1/4 cup vinegar, and 1/2 liquid soap. Be sure to clean your sills too and wipe off the drips to avoid streaks.
How To Clean Your Blinds
Don’t let dirty blinds bring down the tone of your home. Dust and grime can bake on with the aid of the sun but there is a solution. Grab an old sock and mix one part water and one part vinegar and slide your hand across your blinds.
