It’s a sweet cake that is perfect in the arvo with a cuppa and it’s oh-so-good. This old fashioned favorite will not disappoint.
Apple Date Cake With Coconut Topping Ingredients
This delicious cake is stuffed with apples and dates, then topped with sweet brown sugar and coconut crumble. So, let’s take a look at what you are going to need on your shopping list.
- 2 large apples, grated
- 1 cup dried or fresh dates, chopped
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 4.5oz (127g) butter, melted
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 1 1/2 cup plain flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 Tablespoon icing sugar to serve
- 2 oz (57g) butter, melted
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 Tablespoons milk
- 1 cup shredded coconut (Vanya used half coconut chips)
