Chef John of Food Wishes and Food Network fame has some of the greatest ideas, especially when it comes to decadent desserts.

Not only are his recipes out of this world, but his sense of humor is also extremely entertaining. There’s a reason why he is a crowd favorite. According to Chef John, this Pecan Pie may have won a Texas State Fair.

Award Winning Pecan Pie Ingredients

He says that the recipe has the perfect ratio of crunchy and sticky and is in his opinion, this constitutes the perfect Pecan Pie.

So, let’s take a look at what you are going to need. You will need enough pie dough for a 9 1/2 inch glass pie dish. The Pie Shell should be pre-baked as shown in the video below.

  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup butter (4 oz)
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • half a cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 tsp fine salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tbsp bourbon
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 3 large eggs
