If you are planning on using your herbs in the near future, wrapping them in damp paper towel and popping them in a ziploc bag and in your fridge will ensure that they remain fresh.
For those of you that would like to have them on hand continually, did you know you can pop them in ice cube trays, add oil and freeze them? This is a brilliant trick, and one you will use continually. It beats dried herbs hands down!
Your recipes will greatly benefit from this easy trick too and they will be so much more flavorful. That’s just one of the reasons to utilise this clever and handy method.
All you need to do is chop or tear up your herbs into small pieces and pack them into your ice cube trays. Pop them in on their own or mix them up to create some new combinations. Be sure that you write down on a pad the names for future reference. There are a few different ways you can top off your herbs.
How To Freeze Herbs In Oil Video
You can use a few tablespoons of a light olive oil. You can use Butter or you can even use vegetable or chicken broth. Anything goes, it depends purely on your taste and what dish you are planning on using your herbs for.

Clean your fresh basil in cold water, and let it air dry well and pop it in a sterilized glass jar with a lid. Julie suggests sprinkling Kosher Salt on the base of the jar.
