Golden Syrup Dumplings CWA Ingredients
- 2 cups (500ml) water
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup (80ml) golden syrup
- 100g (3.5oz) butter
- 1 ½ cups self-raising flour
- ¾ cup milk (185ml)
Golden Syrup Dumplings CWA Method
Combine water, brown sugar, ¼ cup of golden syrup and half of the butter in a large saucepan. Stir over low heat until melted.
Set aside. Meanwhile, use a food processor to process flour and half butter.
Combine milk and 1 tablespoon of golden syrup. Pour into the flour and butter crumb on low speed until a sticky dough forms.
If you don’t have a food processor, use fingertips to rub the butter into flour. Then add golden syrup and milk, and stir until well combined.
Bring sauce to the boil then drop heaped dessertspoonfuls of mixture into the sauce.
Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered for 15-20 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. Serve with ice-cream or cream.
