Easiest Homemade Butter Recipe
- 2 cups (500ml) double 45% cream
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
- Pour cream into a food processor or blender. Process for 10 minutes, or until the butter separates. Strain off the liquid. Season to taste with salt if you like. Press butter into a small bowl with the back of a spoon to further remove liquid. Makes about 250g butter.
Here’s a great idea from Playdough To Plato, they have lots of fun things to try on their site including how to make Butter In a Jar and it has the same result as churning.
It involves half filling your jar with cream and shaking until the sloshing sound stops. You need to shake until the mixture separates. Be prepared for a fair amount of effort! The great thing about this is you’ll be left with some buttermilk after you remove your lump of butter and you can use that for other baking.
