Today we are sharing a brand new recipe that has some famous European Roots. We are talking about Focaccia Bread which is a flat Italian Bread that is similar to Pizza and you top it with herbs.
It’s the perfect accompaniment to your favorite dishes and ideal served with a good virgin olive oil on the side.
This recipe is a great alternative to Garlic Bread and is loaded with herbs and flavor. We found it on the All Recipes Site and we have included their video further down our post.

Focaccia Bread Ingredients
- 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water (105 degrees F/41 degrees C)
- 6 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup semolina flour
- 2 teaspoons minced fresh rosemary (optional)
- 2 3/4 cups bread flour, divided
- 1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil
- 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
- 2 teaspoons minced fresh rosemary
- 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt, or to taste
How To Make Focaccia Bread At Home
We have included the instructions below from All Recipes. This is exactly what we followed. You can use herbs and toppings of your choice. Whatever you love. Don’t be afraid to get creative!
In a large bowl, stir together the flour, salt, sugar, yeast, garlic powder, oregano, thyme, basil and black pepper. Mix in vegetable oil and water.
When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead until smooth and elastic. Lightly oil a large bowl, place the dough in the bowl, and turn to coat with oil. Cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 20 minutes.
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Punch dough down; place on greased baking sheet. Pat into a 1/2 inch thick rectangle. Brush top with olive oil. Sprinkle with Parmesan and mozzarella cheese.
Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm and store in an air tight container.
