You’ll be surprised at how quickly this deliciously simple dessert disappears! Gail’s own Orange Self-Saucing Pudding Recipe is the perfect ending to a good meal and everyone will be lining up for seconds.
The perfect injection of citrus is balanced out with the wonderfully flavorful orange sauce. Gail says that this is one heavenly recipe that earns her plenty of compliments.

Gail also says that whilst her recipe calls for orange zest, you can also substitute dried orange peel as she did. She just gave it a quick blitz until it was a powder, then added it in.
- 1 cup Self-Raising Flour, sifted
- â…“ cup Caster Sugar
- 2 oz (60g) butter, melted
- Zest rind of 1 orange
- ½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1 Egg

Pre-heat oven to 325F/170C.
Next, add flour, sugar and orange zest to a bowl, and mix well
Now, in a small bowl, beat melted butter, orange juice, and egg. Then pour that into the flour mixture and stir to incorporate well. Now pour batter into a greased oven dish.
Next, you’ll make the sauce. Heat orange juice and sugar in a small saucepan over the stove, bringing to the boil, then turn down the heat and simmer 4-5 minutes.
Then, gently add the sauce mix on top of the batter, pouring over the back of a spoon so as not to disturb the batter mix. Then bake for 30 minutes or until the top is golden and springs back when touched. Afterward, serve and enjoy!
