Gail also says that whilst her recipe calls for orange zest, you can also substitute dried orange peel as she did. She just gave it a quick blitz until it was a powder, then added it in.

  • 1 cup Self-Raising Flour, sifted
  • ⅓ cup Caster Sugar
  • 2 oz (60g) butter, melted
  • Zest rind of 1 orange
  • ½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 Egg

Orange Self-Saucing Pudding Sauce Ingredients

  • ⅔ cup Caster Sugar
  • 1¼ cups freshly squeezed orange juice

Pre-heat oven to 325F/170C.

Next, add flour, sugar and orange zest to a bowl, and mix well

Now, in a small bowl, beat melted butter, orange juice, and egg. Then pour that into the flour mixture and stir to incorporate well. Now pour batter into a greased oven dish.

Next, you’ll make the sauce. Heat orange juice and sugar in a small saucepan over the stove, bringing to the boil, then turn down the heat and simmer 4-5 minutes.

Then, gently add the sauce mix on top of the batter, pouring over the back of a spoon so as not to disturb the batter mix. Then bake for 30 minutes or until the top is golden and springs back when touched. Afterward, serve and enjoy!
