When it comes to comfort food, this old-school Peach Crumble Recipe is right up there with the very best of them. WHOot Contributor, Dave, says this is his take on his Grandma Ruth’s Apple Crumble.

He was looking for a dessert that had few ingredients but was flavorful and needed little time in the oven. His peach crumble ticks all the boxes and it’s ideal served with ice-cream, or on its own!

Peach Crumble Ingredients

For the Peaches

  • 4 medium peaches, peeled and cut into wedges
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/4 cup white granulated sugar

For the Crumble

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • half cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold cubed butter (1 stick)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

How To Make Peach Cobbler Recipe

Place the peaches in a pan over medium-high heat. Add in the water and sugar. Stir and cook for about 3 or 4 minutes until the peaches become soft and darken.

Place the peaches in a baking dish.

Add the flour, brown sugar, butter, and salt to a mixing bowl. Cut together until a crumble forms. Add in the oats and cinnamon and fold together until well incorporated.

You can add the cinnamon to the crumble mixture first if you wish.

Spread the crumble mixture over the peaches and even it out a bit so the peaches are totally covered.

Place in a 350 degree F or 180 degrees c preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes until it’s cooked through, not, and bubbly.

Plate, serve and enjoy your simple peach crumble.

Dave’s Kitchen Notes

If you don’t want to go through the trouble of preparing the peaches, canned peaches can be used. If you use these, you might want to cut back on the amount of sugar used in the recipe.

You can use any brand of oats. Just make sure they are not too fine.

I always serve my peach crumble up with ice cream. The flavour you use is your personal preference. Cool Whip goes nicely with it too.
