Bread In Ziplock Bag Ingredients

  • 5 cups bread flour, plus 2 tablespoons for kneading
  • 1 tablespoon RapidRise yeast (do not substitute regular yeast)
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups of water
  • 3 tablespoons butter

How To Make Bread In A Ziploc Bag

Using a gallon-size ziplock bag, add your yeast, sugar, and salt. Shake the bag to mix it all together.

Be sure your water is warm enough to proof the yeast by warming it in the microwave for 1 minute. It should be about 120 degrees F.

Add the water and the butter to your bag mixture and zip the top. Knead with both hands until well mixed.

Add 2 more cups of flour and knead again. Finally, add the last cup of flour and knead until the dough no longer sticks to the bag.

Sprinkle a cup of flour over a clean counter or tabletop to further knead your dough.

Knead well 15 to 29 times until you have a smooth, elastic dough.

Spray the top of your dough with cooking spray and cover it with plastic wrap. let it rest 10 minutes until it looks puffy.

Remove the wrap and punch down the dough.

To make bread loaves, spray two 9X4-inch bread pans with cooking spray. Divide dough into two portions.

Roll one of your dough pieces into a square about 9×9 inches, using either a rolling pin or your hands.

Tightly roll the dough into a log, pinching the ends to seal.

Repeat with the other half of dough.

To make rolls, spray two 8 x 8-inch pans with cooking spray. Divide your dough into two portions.

Loosely roll each piece into a 2-inch wide log and divide into 12 equal pieces.

Roll each piece into a ball and pinch the edges to seal.

Repeat with the other half of the dough.

Cover either bread pan or roll pans with plastic wrap sprayed with cooking spray.

Leave them to rest in a warm place for about 30 minutes.

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.

Bake loaves for 30-35 minutes, rolls for 25-30 minutes until tops are golden brown.

Fully baked bread will read about 200 degrees F on an internal read thermometer.
